Papa John International’s Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Victoria Russell has become synonymous with the phrase “diversity is not about counting people, it’s about making people count.” During her 13 year tenure at Papa John’s as a marketing analyst, Diversity & Inclusion head, and now, the first African-American woman to sit on the pizza franchise’s executive board, she has advocated for the value in valuing all members of the Papa John’s team, be they franchisee, employee, or supplier. Over the years, Russell has learned first-hand that inclusive and culturally-sensitive customer engagement strategies are paramount to upholding the integrity of a brand and crucial for building trust with both employees and customers. In her presentation, “A Look into Papa John’s Efforts to drive a More Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Culture,” Russell will demonstrate how businesses can make intentional strides towards equity in and outside company walls while harnessing the creative power of a diverse workforce. “It is true that out of crisis comes opportunity,” she says, “and I look forward to sharing Papa John’s journey towards a more inclusive culture where everyone belongs.”
Russell honed her Human Resources experience at Brown Forman and Human before joining the Papa John’s team and received her Masters and Bachelors degrees in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Kentucky. Outside of the office, her advocacy for an equitable workplace and contributions to the boards of Leadership Louisville, Fund for the Arts, the YMCA and the Adweek Diversity and Inclusion council (which she founded) have not been unnoticed. This year she received Louisville Business First’s “Woman Making A Difference” award as a member of Louisville’s Forty Under 40 and Business Women First programs. “I am honored to be a part of the Greenville Chamber’s 3rd annual Diversity & Inclusion Summit,” she says.
We are honored to present Russell as one of eleven speakers at our annual Diversity & Inclusion Summit opening 8 a.m. on October 8 at the Greenville Convention Center. Be sure to register before hand here and visit our site to see the full list of speakers. You can hear more about Russell’s story at Papa John’s during our Lunch Keynote from 12-1:30 p.m.!
