I am a native of the Upstate, born in Greenville, raised in Easley. I have lived in the area my entire life, with the exception, of an exciting year in Washington DC and four incredible years in Mexico Beach, Florida. I currently live in the Greater Clemson area with my family, close to the lakes, trails and nature, where I love to spend time.
Greenville is booming! As the new Director of Talent and Workforce Solutions for the Chamber, I am excited to collaborate with our investors, business and industry partners, educators, and community members to create innovative options to attract and develop talent, align resources and remove barriers to expand the workforce necessary today and for the future.
My road to the Chamber has not been typical. Upon graduating from Garner-Webb University, I began teaching Elementary School Physical Education and started work on my Masters’ Degree at Furman University in Health and Exercise Science. I put that degree to work at St. Francis Hospital (now Bon Secours) as an Exercise Specialist with cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients and members, helping them to reach their health and fitness goals. Following the birth of my first son, I returned to the classroom for several years before taking off on adventures to DC and Florida!
Returning to South Carolina in 2012, I made the decision to shift my career focus. I was hired at Tri County Technical College as the Job Placement Coordinator and eventually as the Employability Programs Coordinator. These roles allowed me to discover my passion for helping change lives through education, career and workforce development. Along the way I managed to squeeze in a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University. In my most recent position as the Work-Based Leaning Facilitator for the School District of Pickens County, I was able to develop and implement a web-based management system digitizing the paperwork and accountability associated with work-based learning, leading to incredible growth in participation of students and businesses. I am excited to leverage my experience to help expand and grow LaunchGVL!
When I am not working, you can find me at the gym, lifting weights, outside actively enjoying nature, at home cooking, or spending time with friends and family. I am a CelloMom! My 16-year-old son is a rising junior and cellist. He plays with the Carolina Youth Symphony and is involved in multiple musical pursuits throughout the year! He aspires to become a doctor. My oldest son has transferred to Embry Riddle Worldwide after completing two years at Tri County Technical College. He is majoring in Aeronautical Science and is pursuing his flight certifications with the goal of becoming a commercial or corporate pilot.
As a new Greenville Chamber employee, I am so excited to develop relationships that will help strengthen our workforce and support the Chamber’s mission to lead, convene and mobilize the business community to drive regional economic growth!
