In Business: Fellow Countrymen

Posted by: Andrew Van on Friday, January 18, 2019

Fellow Countrymen is excited to expand our services to include an 8-bed transitional home located at 17 Elmwood Ave in Greenville, SC 29611.  This home is dedicated to Veterans who want to get back on their feet and back to work. Their mission is to help transition Veterans facing homelessness or at-risk of being homeless achieve stability and maximum self-sufficiency. They believe America owes the men and women who’ve defended our freedom the opportunity to successfully reintegrate into society often while battling PTSD, depression, and addiction.

Fellow Countrymen has a vision of providing a multifaceted program that includes a refuge, transitional housing, and affordable housing units. First, the refuge is where Fellow Countrymen can provide immediate intake and work through issues our Veteran face in real-time. Second, the transitional home helps those who have stabilized and have demonstrated growth while reconnecting to the community. Third, affordable housing units offer veterans who have gotten back on their feet, safe and decent conditions with likeminded individuals.

Their program will continue to impact our homeless Veterans’ community by providing the camaraderie and leadership to build and sustain Veterans. They believe every Veteran should have the opportunity to be successful members of society again and the community has recognized the need for more Veterans programs. As a result, they opened their doors April 22nd, 2017 and since then have developed:

*2-beds for The Refuge @ 26 Agnew Rd in Greenville, SC 29611

*8-beds for Transitional Housing @ 17 Elmwood Ave in Greenville, SC 29611

*4-beds for Affordable Housing @ 6526 White Horse Road Greenville, SC 29611

Fellow Countrymen will continue to remain a voice and fight to support those who have served our country.

United Housing Connections (UHC) recognizes the need for more Veterans service organizations and has provided this property through strategic planning and partnership in support of Fellow Countrymen. United Housing Connections is where compassion meets action and is proud to support our Veterans with safe, decent, and affordable housing.
