Welcome to our new Investor Restaurant Depot - A Members-Only Wholesale Cash & Carry Foodservice Supplier - and congratulations on their 121st location - the first in South Carolina!
We had a terrific time touring Restaurant Depot with Tim McDowell, their Marketing and Sales Director for the Midwest and Southeast, and learning about the great products and savings they have to offer our local restaurants, caterers and non-profits at their new 56,000-square foot facility off East Butler Road.
According to Tim, at least 300 current customers that have been traveling 1-3 times a week to Restaurant Depot's Charlotte and Atlanta stores can now get everything they need now from their favorite restaurant supplier right here in Greenville. Not to mention the new customers they will surely gain from what's being hailed as one of the Southeast's best Foodie Towns.
"The most important point for us is to show that we're here to help all small restaurant business owners compete with the franchises. That's our No. 1 goal. This is their warehouse." Tim also noted that we will likely be seeing more catering businesses start up, more ethic restaurants now that the items they need are available, and soon to come more lobster on menus as they will be flying them in live from the Northeast a few days a week - all at very affordable prices.
Headquartered in College Point, New York, Restaurant Depot has been supplying independent food businesses with quality products from large cash and carry warehouse stores since 1990. Their mission is to be a one-stop warehouse for Savings, Selection and Service, Seven Days a Week. There is no cost to join, however you do need to be a restaurant, caterer or non-profit in the food industry. Unlike some of the large food distributors, they do not deliver. Instead, they've simplified the process of buying food, equipment and supplies. There are no minimum purchase requirements. Members have the option to purchase many items by the piece, by the case or in five or more case quantities, saving on the unit costs accordingly.
I was personally AMAZED by the warehouse rows and rows cheeses and meats and produce, all of the great and green serving supplies, and the fact that you could get just one or 600 of pretty much any item you need. And I've never been given a frying pan with my name engraved in it - that was pretty special.
I look forward to all the good fortune and feasts we are sure to taste with the addition of Restaurant Depot!
