The Minority Business of the Year Award is given annually to a minority- owned company based on overall business success and evidence of contributions made by the business to the community.  The owners and operators nominated for this award must also demonstrate strong community involvement and leadership. The Greenville Chamber was fortunate to have received multiple qualified applicants deserving of this recognition.  The selection committee is comprised of past recipients of this highly coveted and esteemed award.  This group takes the responsibility of selecting the Minority Business of the Year recipient just as serious as they approach decisions related to their own businesses.  I am extremely proud of the 2013 recipient.  Not only does the organization represent an incredible company competent of handling any type of marketing communications challenge, but also this company is a friend of CAPACITY.  theideagroup devotes time and talents to serving as the agency of record for all of CAPACITY’s marketing needs.  The firm is owned and operated by Tim Pecoraro and Sydney Williams Cooke. Businesses today have the challenge of trying to work in the business and on the business.  Strapped with expenses and running into their competition in a world where an international account is just a click away, it is important to be flexible, smart, and extraordinarily relevant.  If a business wants to really be in the right position to realize its potential, it will require more than just doing or simply sharing thoughts.  There needs to be a partnership of the thinking and doing.  theideagroup exists to be a partnership of “thinking and doing.”  Leveraging their expertise within the partnership, they operate as a “Thinking” and “Doing” business.  This carries over into the relationship of the clients they serve.  The firm’s specialization is also customization.  What does that mean?  Each client is different and requires different attention; therefore, there is no “one-size-fits-all” scenario.  theideagroup, along with their partner company, PECULIAR, services many significant organizations within the Upstate of South Carolina, nationally, and internationally.  Clients such as, Miracle Hill Ministries, The Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Michelin Travel & Lifestyle, Thrive Senior Living, Children’s Medical Center, MLK Dream Weekend and as previously mentioned, the Greenville Chamber’s CAPACITY initiative and more. theideagroup employs a simple yet effective approach: ORGANIZE, REFINE, DESIGN & then DISTRIBUTE.  As a full service Consulting & Marketing agency, coupled with the creative services provided by their partner agency PECULIAR, theideagroup provides exceptional solutions with extraordinary outcomes for their clients and their products and services.  theideagroup is located in downtown Greenville across from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
