Pulse Young Professionals Programs

 

Pacesetters

Pacesetters is a group mentoring program designed to connect high-potential, young professionals with Greenville's most successful leaders. This program affords its members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through training sessions, mentoring with successful leaders, and networking with other young professionals. The small group format allows this program to be tailored to its individual members so they can receive the greatest benefit possible.

Going into the 11th year of Pacesetters, we are working diligently to refresh and strengthen our Pacesetters programming in 2017. We also want to provide as much information as possible to facilitate maximum participation among both our mentors and mentees. Our Opening and Closing Sessions are currently planned for Wednesday, January 25th and Wednesday, November 15th. Our Pacesetters Workshops (formerly known as skills sessions) will tentatively take place during the third week in March, May, and September. While we are still finalizing the dates and topics for 2017 workshops, we anticipate bringing back the Predictive Index and including some new, dynamic offerings. Apply by October 31st for early registration.

Intern Experience

Do you or your company plan to hire interns for this upcoming summer semester? Give them an enriching experience through Pulse Young Professionals Intern Experience (formerly called Pulse Talent), a summer-long program dedicated to showing off the best of what Greenville and the Upstate have to offer! The Intern Experience, offered by the Greenville Chamber and fostered by Pulse Young Professionals , is a summer-intensive program open to all Chamber Investor interns with the goal to attract and retain young talent to the Upstate area. The interns will be exposed to many of the amazing experiences that the Greenville area has to offer through activities hosted through the summer months, which range from career-building workshops, socials, and other exciting get-togethers that showcase our amazing city. This is a fantastic chance for interns to also step in line with Greenville’s thriving young professionals on regularly scheduled Pulse events. 

Diversity & Inclusion

Introduced in 2014, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Initiative is one of Pulse Young Professional's newest programs. We strive to have an organization that is culturally competent, welcoming to all young professionals and representative of the growing and diverse Greenville community.  The Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Initiative promotes all official Chamber Diversity and Inclusion events as well as creates new opportunities for leadership development within Pulse Young Professionals.

Arts & Community

This program exposes Pulse members to Greenville's thriving arts & culture scene. Pulse Culture & Community was developed to aid young professionals in exploring the various cultural events and attractions that Greenville has to offer, from culinary to visual to performance and more.  

Leadership Development

Pulse Young Professionals provides its membership with several Leadership events each year. There are six Leadership Luncheons and at least one Leadership Signature Event. These events were created to develop the leadership skills of all Pulse Young Professionals members.  Events consist of various expert speakers or forums on both professional and personal development topics and skills.  The Leadership Luncheon is one of Pulse Young Professionals's most popular programs, featuring an engaging lunch-time event that expands perspectives and encourages professional development. The Signature Event is typically an evening event held in the fall.

Marketing

Don’t know how to get involved? Can’t figure out where to get started? Pulse Young Professionals offers a quarterly Intro to Pulse meeting open to members and non-members to introduce the Pulse Advisory Council. This informal meeting provides an overview of Pulse programing, opportunity for networking and even a way to join on site. These quarterly meetings are hosted by Pulse Marketing team whose primary responsibilities include social media, website updates, member engagement and communication.

Socials

Pulse Young Professionals members are invited to Upstate area locations for after-hour networking fun. Each year, there are at least six socials on the calendar. These events are targeted towards those who want to network, are new to the area or just enjoy socializing. Pulse Young Professionals members enjoy complimentary food and drinks or drink specials. Social networking events are held every other month on the fourth Wednesday and are open to Pulse members only.  Each of these events is attended by 125-200 members.

Volunteers

Pulse Volunteers (formerly Connects)  was started in 2011 to help Pulse Young Professionals members start giving back to the community through volunteering. The Volunteers committee focuses on getting members involved in agencies while also hosting events during the year for Pulse Young Professionals members to bond together. Events have included a field day for abused children, handing out water at a bike race, serving as judges at a spelling bee and handing out candy at Halloween. Volunteers also works on helping members learn more about leadership opportunities with area boards and commissions.
