Pulse Advisory Council
Pulse Young Professionals is a Leadership Program of the Greenville Chamber but is run by a group of volunteer Pulse members. The Pulse Advisory Council nominates and approves new members annually.
Megan Finnern, Chair
Megan Finnern is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Megan began her career in banking where she focused mainly on leading clients and teams to their highest potential. While getting her MBA, Megan realized an enthusiasm for marketing and communications and decided to make a career transition. Since that time, she has held positions in marketing and client relations in nonprofit, corporate and agency environments. She is now the owner/principal at Finnern Consulting, where she provides contract project management and marketing services to growing businesses including Quality Business Solutions, Inc. and BRIGHT+CO Marketing Consortium. Megan has been a Pulse member since 2011, serving as Marketing Chair in 2014 and on the Marketing Committee from 2013-2016. She has also been active with the Greenville Chamber, Rotaract and Meals on Wheels of Greenville. She serves on the Board of Advisors for Rebuild Upstate and Fall for Greenville Board and is the Marketing Committee Chair for both organizations. She sits on the American Red Cross of Upstate Board of Directors and is currently the Upstate Social Media Lead Volunteer.
Jed Dews, Vice-Chair
Jed Dews is the Associate Executive Director of Pendleton Place, a nonprofit agency dedicated to keeping children safe and supporting families in crisis through prevention, assessment, and intervention. Additionally, Jed works as a consultant for the Children’s Bureau in the federal Administration for Children and Families, collaborating on nation-wide projects that promote high-quality foster care programming and advocate for evidence-based, inclusive child welfare policies. Before taking root in his current professional roles, Jed was a high school language arts teacher, a project manager for e-learning companies, and a freelance consultant for nonprofit accreditation seekers and foster care reform advocates. Jed relocated to Greenville in 2012 and fell in love with the Upstate community. He serves as an appointed Commissioner for the Greenville County Human Relations Commission, chairs committees for the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities as well as the Council on Accreditation, and is passionate about the Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Development programs including Pulse Young Professionals and Youth Leadership Greenville. Jed recently graduated from USC Upstate as part of its very first cohort of graduate-level child advocacy students.
Lindsey Cunningham, Leadership Chair
Lindsey Cunningham is a Hoosier at heart and came to Greenville in 2013 literally the day after graduating from Indiana University. It wasn’t her first stint in Greenville though--Lindsey was a member of the first Pulse Intern Experience class during the summer of 2012. She started her career in the local hospitality industry as Sales Manager for Liquid Catering but currently works as an Event Manager for ScanSource. Lindsey is excited to chair the Leadership committee in 2017! She has previously chaired the Social committee in 2016, and the Pulse Intern Experience committee in 2015. A big fan of Pulse, Lindsey was a 2015 Pacesetter and encourages anyone to apply to the program!
Jennifer Maria Gutierrez-Caldwell, Diversity & Inclusion Chair
Jennifer Maria Gutierrez-Caldwell was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, California. She is a graduate of Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a legal studies concentration and Political Science. After completing her Master of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania focusing on nonprofit management and social policy, Jennifer moved to South Carolina wanting to apply her skill set to move the state forward. Previously employed by Furman University and Wofford College where she led the Office of Diversity & Inclusion. Jennifer now leads the Connections Count program at Pendleton Place. The daughter of a Salvadoran and Mexican immigrant family, Jennifer not only knows the struggles of underserved communities but also remains dedicated to learning about and becoming an advocate for all marginalized persons in America. Jennifer has professionally and organizationally, continued to provide support to her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. as well as volunteers with the LeadHer, Hispanic Alliance, and any other educational and community service project where she can make an impact. Jennifer plans to continue her quest for social justice and equity for all people.
Emily Kodat, Intern Experience Chair
Emily Kodat is a Greenville transplant from D.C. who has adopted Greenville as home. She is a 2013 Furman Alumna, currently getting her MBA with a concentration in MHRD at Clemson University. Emily also works as the Hiring and Marketing Manager for Smart Sitters LLC and as a Senior Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. When she’s not working or studying, you can find her volunteering for NAMI, the Humane Society or city-run events. Emily has been with Pulse for 3.5 years, participating in Pacesetters and serving on the Pulse Intern Experience committee for two years. With a strong passion for growing Greenville’s economy through workforce development, she is excited to take on her new role as the 2017 Pulse Intern Experience Committee Chair.
Allie Maietta, Marketing Co-Chair
Allie Maietta is a proud New Yorker, but has happily called the South home for the last six years. Graduating from Quinnipiac University in 2011, Allie immersed herself in all things foodie after moving to Greenville and ultimately becoming Event Director to the city’s food, wine and music festival, Euphoria. Allie stayed true to her passion for food, beverage and hospitality and currently works as the Senior Account Executive for South City PR, a Charleston based firm specializing in all the above.
Allison McGarrity, Pacesetters Chair
Allison McGarrity has worked with the Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce since May of 2012. She began as the Chamber’s Development Coordinator and was promoted to her current role as President in late 2013. Her position with the Chamber allows her to be part of the vibrant and growing Upstate community by supporting and growing local businesses. She is a member of the Simpsonville Rotary Club, sits on the Board of Advisors for the Brashier Campus of Greenville Technical College, and volunteers with the GHS Family YMCA and other organizations. She has been an active member of Pulse since 2012 and completed the Pacesetters program as a mentee in 2014. Allison earned her Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management (Non-Profit Management) from the College of Charleston and her Master of Business Administration from Clemson University. She is a local to the Upstate, growing up in Duncan and the Spartanburg area. She looks forward to the year ahead with Pulse and Pacesetters.
Sarah Moore, Arts & Culture Chair
Sarah Moore is a Greenville native who graduated from Wofford College in 2012. After spending a few years getting her Master’s at Georgia (Go DAWGS!), she came back to Greenville and started working with Complete PR in 2014. As Public Relations Director at Complete PR, she manages both client accounts and day to day operations for the firm. Outside of work, she serves on the board of SCPRSA (South Carolina chapter of the Public Relations Society of America). She has a lifelong love of the arts, specifically theater, and has served on the Arts and Culture committee for the past two years. She is looking forward to a great 2017 sharing Greenville’s dynamic arts community with young professionals!
Nancy Rice, Volunteers Chair
Nancy Rice is a B2B Project Manager at SYNNEX Corporation and is a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard. Nancy has been a member of Pulse for nearly 2 years, serving on the Marketing Committee. She serves on the Advisory Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters and mentors through the program. She is a Provisional Member of the Junior League of Greenville and volunteers with Upstate Warrior Solution. Nancy has an A.S. Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and recently decided to continue her education and will complete her B.A. in Communications from USC Upstate in December 2017. In her spare time, Nancy enjoys traveling locally & abroad, photography, and spending time with her close friends and family.
Anna Simmons, Social Chair
Anna Simmons is a native of LaGrange, Georgia but has called Greenville home since graduating from Clemson University in May 2014. At Clemson, Anna received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Business Management. Anna currently works at Crawford Strategy, a full-service Marketing, PR and Advertising agency in Greenville as an Account Coordinator. At Crawford Strategy, Anna oversees and supports multiple clients’ advertising campaigns, fundraising efforts and events, from research and planning to execution. Outside of Pulse, Anna serves as the social advisor to the Zeta Nu chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Clemson University.
Jordan Trolinger, Marketing Co-Chair
Jordan Trolinger has been a Greenville native since graduating from Samford University in 2012 and is currently the Director of Creative Services for the Southern Conference. In this role, Jordan leads the league’s marketing and branding efforts, including graphic design, event management and digital strategy. When she’s not working, you can find Jordan hanging out with her husband Clay and dog Jasper, hitting the lake or binge watching the latest Netflix original series. Jordan has been a member of Pulse and the marketing committee for one year and she looks forward to her new role in 2017.
