Meet the Team: Andrew Van

Posted by: Andrew Van on Monday, March 26, 2018

Greenville is my hometown and I love everything about it.  Ever since I was little I have always been interested in helping others including my parents at their first restaurants The Ugly Biscuit.  I went to school at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg and then began a career in banking after graduating.

My customer service and sales background helped me translate that into a career in real estate where I worked for a local builder and local brokers in Greenville.  Through much success in that came my passion to help develop and get more involved in my town.  The transformation of Greenville is astonishing and the continued growth and exposure we receive from all kinds of media is inspiring.

With my position at the Chamber I am able to help our current members really see the big picture in contributing to our Upstate economy and making sure we all succeed.  I’ve always considered myself a social person and now I get to utilize that into a skill that helps connect businesses with one another in order to collaborate and work towards their goals.

In my free time I enjoy spending my time with my close friends and family.  They are everything to me and help me continue develop as a person.  I volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters with my Little, Zach who always keeps me busy.  I love being active playing rec league sports when I can, on top of watching football all day on Sundays.  As if I didn’t already have enough to do, I’m also a regular performer at Alchemy Comedy and can be seen most weekends performing improv and stand-up comedy in Greenville. http://alchemycomedy.com/about/performers/andrew-van/

One of my favorite quotes is “Cleverness is overrated.  Heart is underrated.” – Mike Birbiglia.  It reminds me to fulfill my job everyday with heart before all else.
