On behalf of the Greenville Chamber, congratulations goes out to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate for being selected June 2017 Small Business of the Month! The award was presented by Michael Herlong, representing the selection committee and our sponsor, Cheryl Taylor with Cowart Awards. CEO Lamont Sullivan, his staff and several BBBS Board members joined us to accept. They had an amazing crowd of enthusiastic supporters at the ceremony!

For more than 100 years nationally, and 43 years locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”)

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a system of ongoing evaluation and support that is proven by independent studies to help families by improving the odds that “Littles” will perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others. Headquartered in Philadelphia with a network of nearly 380 agencies across the country, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves nearly 250,000 children.

CEO Lamont Sullivan says, “We are honored to receive this prestigious award. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, we pride ourselves on being the premier one-to-one mentoring program. Our investment in the Greenville Chamber allows us to collaborate in a network of businesses, who employ leaders and volunteer with us in helping kids succeed and thrive in life. This honor helps our brand stand alone in area mentoring in Greenville County. Additionally, it sends a message to business that an investment in our organization will produce a lucrative return. We look forward to greater collaboration because of this award. Thank you!”
