New Artwork at the Chamber: Brandon Mitchell

Posted by: Megan Campbell on Friday, January 20, 2017

New artwork lines the walls of the Chamber’s TD Bank Gallery. The canvas paintings are by local artist, Brandon Mitchell.

Mitchell began painting on canvas in 2004 when he studied with Odili Donald Odita. He received his Bachelor in Fine Arts from Florida State University and moved to New York City for three years where he lived as a painter and commercial artist. After serving in the military for 4 years, he settled in Greenville with his wife and twin daughters where he is now pursuing a Master of Arts in Visual Development.

Mitchell’s style is influenced mainly by Film Noir of 1930’s-40’s, art deco, architecture, and post impressionism. He also draws inspiration from his traveling experiences in Alaska, the Midwest, the Caribbean, England and Ireland. He is strongly drawn to any idea that conveys a strong sense of an expression that hints at an underlying story within the context of the piece.

Thanks to the Metropolitan Arts Council for providing this beautiful exhibit.
